Reviews: Improve your practice!

04.10.04

‘…pages…are set out in a clear and attractive way and develop as the grades become more advanced. The pull-out centre pages contain a set of ‘playing cards’ with ideas for making practice time more exciting and fruitful. A diary, exam count-down and other useful information all help to make this series most helpful to both pupils and teachers.’
SMA Bulletin, Autumn 2004

'The format has deliberately been kept simple and consistent with each grade.  The books are designed to help pupils with their practice and the message is one of quality over quantity. All of them begin with an introduction laying out the format of each practice session, with a research/fact-finding mission of the piece outlined through to warm-ups designed by the teacher. In the middle, the student picks one of the supplied cards that have various tasks to complete.  The wide-ranging tasks involve working with and without music, and most are really fun for the students ... a very useful and well-designed addition to pupils' resources'
Music Teacher, February 2006

'With the guidance given in these books, pupils will start to take a real interest in their music and in how they are practising. From there follows progress. Terrific! I plan to give a copy to each of my pupils for Christmas.
